Kites Around the World Grade 3, Greentree School Education Week Drumheller, Alberta, Canada May 2011 Children in Canada fly kites in the spring. This is when the snow has finally melted, the weather warms up and the foliage starts to green. This spring, all the students of Greentree School went out into the community and flew their kites as a symbol to say thank you to Drumheller for helping them soar higher. The students made their kites from a kit. Each grade decorated their kites based on a theme matching their social studies curriculum. The grade 3 theme was culture. Many of the students made kites of different flags, county colours, and patterns from different cultures (e.g. rangoli patterns from India). While designing our kites, we researched kites and kite festivals from around the world. While researching kites around the world, we came across this wiki.
